Inspect the damage and define the repair
Record the number and approximate dimensions of damaged areas, their location and the condition of surrounding surfaces. Confirm access and whether the underlying cause has been addressed. A visible hole alone does not reveal all the work behind the wall.
If moisture, unknown materials, concealed utilities or structural damage raise concerns, arrange appropriate assessment before committing to the repair. Do not include specialist work unless it is within your scope and qualifications.
Separate patching, finishing and painting
Identify the included patch work, joint treatment, sanding, primer and painting. State whether painting covers only the repair or an agreed larger surface. Discuss texture and appearance expectations rather than promising an invisible match.
Note whether protection, waste handling and cleanup are included. If the job requires multiple visits, include the associated time and setup in your estimate.
Make each line item reviewable
For a fictional two-area repair, the estimate could separate protection and setup, patching of the two inspected areas, finishing visits, primer and agreed wall painting, and materials. Enter quantities and prices from the actual job; a generic rate per hole may miss access or finishing differences.
Decide whether items use hours, area or a fixed job amount and keep the unit clear. See how a small-repair estimate separates labor and materials.
Write the conditions before the customer decides
State the surfaces included, access requirements, drying-time assumptions and excluded work. Describe how extra damage found after opening the wall will be discussed and priced. Confirm the currency, applicable tax and estimate validity before sharing.
